Day Trips to Euro Disney: Disneyland Paris opened in 1992 and was quite controversial at the time. The French saw it as American culture being pushed onto them. By the year 2000 the attitude had changed so much that the park had over 50 million visitors that year, making it the number one attraction in all of France.

The park is modeled after the Disneyland Park in Southern California. It includes Main Street USA, Frontierland, Adventureland, Fantasyland and Discoveryland. There is also an entertainment center called Le Festival Disney. If you are a Disney fanatic, or if you are traveling with very young children you may want to make the journey.

You will notice that it is not exactly the same as Disneyland in the States, Mickey speaks French and cafés serve wine!

Details: From Paris take the RER to Marne-La-Vallee, at the park. It is a 30 minute journey and the cost of the ticket is about $18 round trip. If you have a 5 tier Métro Pass the journey is covered. The last train back into Paris is around midnight.

It is recommended that you buy your entry tickets in advance ($45 for adults, less for kids). This can be done at TIs in Paris, major Métro stops, the Disney or Virgin Stores on the Champs Elysées. Many hotels will also have brochures available. Plan on 12-14 hours for your entire visit from start to end from Paris.
