10 Free things to do in ParisParis is an amazing city but sometimes the cost of things can be frustrating. Here is a list of 10 free things to do in Paris.Outdoor Markets in Paris - The largest market in Paris is the Marché aux Puces de St-Ouen-Clignancourt. This free flea market with over 2000 stalls is open weekends and includes antiques, bric-a-brac, clothing, jewelry and just about everything else.
Paris in Lights - Paris is known as the City of Lights, and its most famous monuments are lit up at night. Each evening pick a sight to visit. Our favorites at night are Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower and Hotel de Ville.
Père-Lachaise Cemetery - A great free afternoon should be spent in this amazing cemetery where the famous names are as intriguing as the tombstone art. You'll find Chopin, Oscar Wilde, Sarah Bernhardt, Edith Piaf, Jim Morrison and more.
Free Concerts in Paris - Many churches and cathedrals offer free concerts. Consider the following: Notre Dame - free organ recitals at 5:30 PM on Sundays, St-Meri - free choral concerts at 9 PM on Saturdays and 4 PM on Sundays, The American Church - free blues concerts at 9 PM on Fridays.
Free Fashion Shows in Paris - Two of the largest department stores (Galleries Lafayette and Printemps) offer free fashion shows each week. The day changes by the season and free reservations are required.
Parks in Paris - No visit to Paris is complete without having a picnic lunch in a park. Our favorite is the small Place des Vosges. A favorite among Parisians is the Luxembourg Gardens. If you have been to many of the better known Parisian parks already, consider the Promenade Plantée, a 2 mile long park on top of a former elevated train track.
Cathedrals in Paris - Unlike many cathedrals in Europe, the cathedrals in Paris are free! Donations are accepted however, and there are often fees to climb towers or visit tombs.
Views of Paris - Some of the top attractions in Paris are best seen from the ground, the Eiffel Tower, the Arc D' Triomphe, the Seine River, Hotel de Ville.
Montmartre Walk - This area is famous for its views of Paris, the Sacré-Coeur Basilica, the artisan neighborhoods where Toulouse Lautrec lived and the now somewhat seedy Moulin Rouge area.
Window Shopping in Paris - The best memories of Paris are often the most simple things such as window shopping. There's no Wal-Mart here, it's boutiques filled with treasures that take all shapes, sizes, colors and prices.
